You know I love ya Hillbilly but you want the government to stop selling cigarettes and legalize weed??? Not that I completely disagree but its a contraindiction ;) AND will NEVER happen. Too much money made on tobacco in this country and trust me they would love to make billions of dollars marketing grass but where will it end, on crack?? The government should have boycotted alcohol years ago when they saw how many lives in ruined, people it killed and marriages it wrecked along with unwanted pregnancies but again too much money to lose so instead of losing the capital they would rather "risk" it betting on us americans to keep it in control which if you look at how many drunk driving incidences happen every year it does NOT appear that people have a grip on it at all. This country's biggest profit makers are killing us all!!! :(
Sorry to get so out of loop here but I witnessed a horrible accident last week where 4 people were injured and 2 killed because one of our own didnt know when to stop (drinking) blew a red light and killed a mother (32) and a child (6). It is a real problem in this country and needs to be stopped!! PS As a very proud member of MADD I do not or appreciate people who drink and drive but I dont mind the tobacco smoker behind the wheel at all!! 04/05/2008 10:59

Beth, I wholehesartedly agree. What we choose to do in this world is our decision. If no one else is harmed, then, our decision bears on us. My Uncle Jim once said that some of the best things in life were his vices and he intended to enjoy them all the way to his grave. He had two--- smoking and drag racing. He loved nothing better than to get you in his car, take off down the road and light one of his cigars. My God, they did stink, but, I never told him that. I. too, have been a smoker for the majority of my adult life. I enjoy that time, the solitude, when I smoke. Yes, Allen says at least 100 times a day- You could quit if you wanted. Sick I know. She was a 1 upper. always had to have what everyone else had or better. that pisses me off. Like it makes them better than the other people. duh no just stupider and more in debt. Weellll....I am not a smoker, however, I do not agree with ALL the laws being made on smokers. I think some are getting a bit out of hand. I know many smokers...have worked with them, played with and around them. I have live with them (my dad smokes). I don't hold it against them that they smoke. I do, however, have a problem with smoking in restaurants for a few reasons. The biggest one is this...out of all the smokers I know...not one of them like to smoke WHILE eating. It just ruins the taste of the food they tell me. Well...that is why I do not like to have cigarette smoke wofting my way when I am eating. It completely ruins the experience and comfort of my meal. As far as having a completely closed in room separate from non-smokers, here are a few things to think about on that: Should the establishment have to hire waitstaff that smoke so those who do not, and don't like the smell, won't have to enter and serve the patrons in that room? Have you ever noticed the difference in a room where no smoking has occured compaired to those where it has? The walls are permiated with the smoke. The smell is hard to mask...and the color of the walls, if painted brightly, is dinged. This is very noticable where I work, when smoking was allowed inside. Hotels even have separate "Smoking Only" rooms because of this. You can smell the cigarette smoke even after days or weeks of the smoker not being there. Is it right that establishments have to pay money to build or develope a separate sealed off room with a ventilations system, all of which has to be maintained? How about the entryways...should the place have a separate entry for smokers only? That way the smokers can light up and enjoy their smokes on the way out....Which bring to mind the staffing again..."Smoking Staff' and "Non-Smoking Staff"...is this what should happen?One reason I never took up smoking is this, which is something I will NEVER forget. When I was a kid...I went on a 6 hour long (one way, the return trip was just as bad) car trip...raining the whole way...with my dad and step-mom....both smokers. The windows were, of course. rolled up because of the rain...and I was stuck in a box on wheels for 6 hours with chain smokers. I got sick...to say the least. I swore I would never take up the nasty habit...and I never did.Again, I am not against ANYONE smoking. It is your RIGHT to do so. However, What I notice is that smoking outside allows the smoke to dissipate and not bother anyone. If you light a fireplace...do you not allow the smoke to go up the chimneyand dissipate outside? Or do you allow the smoke to fill your house, stain your walls, and possibly make you sick? For a non-smoker...it is the same when they are in an area where smokers are practicing their right to light-up.Just my own little vent on this particular topic. By the way...smoking....terrible on the vocal chords...whether it is first or second-hand....I can attest to and swear by that. I have experienced and witnessed the results of it. 03/01/2008 09:52

I too love bix but when a great place fails to deliver the participants have to make to do what they can in order to fight the place from becoming monotonous. My goal with my new contest is to attempt to have the entries mixed on a CD just and turn it into a real dance mix where all my friends are the performers. You know you ask why incorporate another website into this one....I used to think the same thing but then decided to treat this as just another social networking site that has "some" songs available to sing but as with MySpace, Facebook, and other social networking sites, we can embed/post our SingSnap songs, our Bix songs, and other songs/videos we've recorded elsewhere (e.g., via YouTube, Live Video, etc.)...So why the heck shouldn't we post other songs here on this site...karaoke is obviously NOT a priority here...the larger emphasis is on the social networking aspect, polls, contests of every imaginable kind, etc....so I say BRING WHAT YOU GOT FROM WHEREVER YOU CAN GET IT!!! All i got to say is, it's so nice now to go bowling without walking through fog and without a runny nose. It's a relief to go to a reataurant and not smell that, and eat my food in clean air. It's not fair yall no longer have a smoking room, at yout workplace. But it is NOT fair to share a room with smoke in my face! It stinks, makes me nauseated, makes my eyes water. If you want to smoke, then that's your perogative(sp). I was forced to deal with it my whole life, and now it's nice to go places. such as the waffle house or bowling. I used to avoid those places. I still avoid bars, simply because of the same reason i used to avoid them other places. So, if I lose freinds because of this, then so be it. /i have my feelings too. 02/29/2008 18:32
