Hey! Saw your comment about me getting up and away from the computer...reckon my boa can't hold a feather to your bongos!
Dear, dear...whew..in 6th grade, we handled music essentially the same way but we'd join up with other classes since it was once a week. "Inchworm" I believe was the title of one of our first group efforts and I recall what a beautiful melody for an inchworm measuring the marigolds seems to me he'd stop and see how beautiful they are...We then moved up to the 'recorder' which might have been called a Tonette and had a concert. I remember how thrilled I was to see that shiny black instrument being given to us but of course, the parents wanted to throw it in the trash! I was also having to take organ lessons when all I heard was the call of the piano. To this day it takes wild horses to get me to an organ but I taught myself how to play the piano with the chord method and my head goes haywire trying to read treble and bass cleffs at the same time so I don't. My son plays the violin and sings. He is majoring in Music Education. And wow! Rock on Sedona! ALWAYS wanted to come there. Oh yeah..clever to throw the bongos in there! Amazing! You've got a fan in me..AND you're a music teacher! KUDOS! 02/09/2007 01:02
I love the bongos!!! Good idea to fill the instrumental with that. Sure woulda been funny to see you just standing there with nothing to do for over a minute. LOL 01/23/2007 15:06
Man! How come I couldn't have had a way cool music teacher like you when I was in school?! It would have changed everything, truly! I had the weird old lady with the funky perm who played kazoo. You ROCKED the bix with that one, Jeanie! 01/15/2007 20:16
When I was little, our classroom teacher handled any music we did....then, in 6th grade, I had a "serious" older lady (who was probably the age I am now! >-o!) who taught us "DownTown" on a Tonette--does anyone even know what that is??) THEN I had cool music teachers who at least tried to teach the Chorus "up-to-date" songs....I hope you all encourage your kids to get involved in music at school! It comes from the parents! :-) Thank you for saying what you said. I am still smiling. :-) Jeanie 01/16/2007 00:11
